Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare

Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare
Rating 5/5

Description:
Magic is dangerous—but love is more dangerous still.
When sixteen-year-old Tessa Gray crosses the ocean to find her brother, her destination is England, the time is the reign of Queen Victoria, and something terrifying is waiting for her in London's Downworld, where vampires, warlocks and other supernatural folk stalk the gaslit streets.
Only the Shadowhunters, warriors dedicated to ridding the world of demons, keep order amidst the chaos.
Kidnapped by the mysterious Dark Sisters, members of a secret organization called The Pandemonium Club, Tessa soon learns that she herself is a Downworlder with a rare ability: the power to transform, at will, into another person. What's more, the Magister, the shadowy figure who runs the Club, will stop at nothing to claim Tessa's power for his own.
Friendless and hunted, Tessa takes refuge with the Shadowhunters of the London Institute, who swear to find her brother if she will use her power to help them. She soon finds herself fascinated by—and torn between—two best friends: James, whose fragile beauty hides a deadly secret, and blue-eyed Will, whose caustic wit and volatile moods keep everyone in his life at arm's length . . . everyone, that is, but Tessa. As their search draws them deep into the heart of an arcane plot that threatens to destroy the Shadowhunters, Tessa realizes that she may need to choose between saving her brother and helping her new friends save the world. . . . and that love may be the most dangerous magic of all.

My Review:Okay!! Wow!! This is another solid start of a series for Cassandra Clare. Even though it is a prequel series and has completely different characters it stays true to her writing style and the Shadowhunter lifestyle. The main character is Tessa and she has come to London to live with her brother after the death of her Aunt that has raised her since the death of her parents. When she arrives in London she is greeted by strangers and is unknowingly taken prisoner and is told her brother will die if she doesn't do as she is told. When she is accidentally rescued she meets the shadowhunters and  can actually start to learn a little information about who she is and the world she did not know she belonged to. The action in this book is just as gripping as the Mortal Instruments series and I have to tell you that the characters are reminiscent of each other. Tessa is a strong minded individual which is unusual for her time and coincidentally does not know what she really is and has been raised blind to the shadow world- Ring a bell  ummhmm! Clary! Jace also has a counterpart in this series his name is Will he is egotistical and even has a very self sacrificing dark side and he is also the love interest of our protagonist but their relationship is also not without complications. Alex has a counterpart as well his name is Jem and he has a secret that will surprise you just as much as Alex's did in MI and they Mrs. Clare keeps you guessing til the end. I know what you are thinking now what about our fashion diva Isabelle who is so self- confident and ass kicking bad well she has a counterpart too her name is Jessamine and as she and Isabelle are the same when it comes to clothes and fashion they are quite different in all other aspects. Don't miss this prequel series because I think you will not only see some familiar characters in the future MI books but it is quite the read that you will regret not picking up.

Happy reading!!
